Over 3,000 fans of supergroup Destiny’s Child are members of one of the largest fan groups in the world, The group supports Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Wiliams and former members like LeToya Luckett. The rap star received 22 nominations this year, just behind the Chainsmokers, who led the nominations with 23. The Chainsmokers took home the first award of the night. In her acceptance speech, the crowd roared when Cher reminded them she’s been in the industry for 53 years and turned 71 on Saturday.

There are nine categories in total, five based on the geographical regions in the CD reviews section of Songlines – Africa & Middle East, Americas, Europe, Asia & South Pacific and Fusion – as well as Best Artist, Best Group, Newcomer and World Pioneer awards.

On Thursday at the Western Canadian Music Awards Show at Casino Regina, winners were honoured for several award categories as well as Hall of Fame Inductee Colin James, presented by FACTOR. Presented by APRA AMCOS in conjunction with the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC), to honour music in film.
